GE Develops Smart Appliances to Monitor Your Milk

GE Develops Smart Appliances to Monitor Your Milk .  Cor-Jus Enterprises has found out that GE, in partner with the invention lab, Quirky have announced the development of a smart milk container that can monitor your milk. This new application will automatically measure the pH of the dairy product. Called MilkMaid, the device will determine how acidic or alkaline the milk is. When the pH goes below a specific level a red LED light warns that the milk is no longer drinkable.

The device can send “status” text messages through an app to the owner’s iPhone to note the # of cups left, the expiration date and temperature. The app can also provide you with a sour milk recipe if requested.

While Milk Maid is only in prototype for now, being introduced last May, it shows that GE has embraced the digital side of things, striving to make appliances both more effecient as well as smarter for its owners. GE Opens New “Green” Refrigerator Plant

Cor-Jus Enterprises has learned that GE Appliances this Spring has opened a new plant to manufacture high-tech refrigerators and freezers within its Appliance Park manufacturing campus in Louisville. It follows by one month the opening of another new on-campus plant for producing GeoSpring water heaters that had previously been made in China.

These two new plants are a part of a series of GE appliance manufacturing investment initiatives that began in 2009, totaling 1 Billion and will create 1,300 new U.S. jobs by 2014. Three sister-sites are being built in Blooington, IN; Decatur, AL; Selmer, TN; all focus being on becoming manufacturing “centers of excellence”. GE Partnered With the Wastewise Program

Cor-Jus Enterprises reports that GE Appliances has become a partner in the WasteWise Program, a voluntary initiative that focuses on waste reduction, saving environmental resources while reducing emissions in accordance with the U.S. EPA.
